Make Your Own Breast Milk Pendant
DIY Breast Milk Jewelry from Lackto
Having watched my rather large family continue to expand like any good Irish Catholic family does…I assumed breastfeeding would be easy. While we didn’t have major issues, breastfeeding was not easy for us. I’m super happy to give my child the best nourishment I can, but that doesn’t mean I’ve enjoyed it. So to celebrate making it to one year, I purchased a make your own breast milk pendant kit.
Being a mom and a blogger, I research a good bit of mommy/baby gear and products. A little while ago a service popped up on my feed to have a pendent made from your breast milk. I really liked the idea of doing this to celebrate our journey together. But I didn’t want to send off my breast milk, and cost was a consideration. Ultimately I held off since I didn’t want to buy the kit before making it to a year. I’m glad I did, because I found Lackto, a DIY breast milk pendent kit that is affordable and sent to your home.

Why Lackto?
Ultimately, I liked being able to do it myself (if you’ve read any of my other blog Knitting in the Park, you’ll know DIY is always my style), price, and Lakcto made it easy to do.
DIY: Lackto ships you a small box with everything you need in order to make your pendent. In fact, there’s enough in there to make up to three pendents if you order extra molds.
Price: Right (February) now you can save 40% on pendants. The small tear drop pendant that I made is $59 with the discount. Normally you can save 20% if you code “outdoormamabear”.
Easy to Do: Pump some milk (you only need a small amount). Pop open the box. Mix the two additives together, stir in a small amount of milk, and fill the mold. In two days you have a beautiful piece of jewelry!
What I Learned Making My Own Breast Milk Pendant from Lackto:
- You only need a small amount of milk – like a tiny pipette’s worth so don’t worry about breaking into your freezer stash.
- When they say mix for two minutes, mix for two minutes. I didn’t at first and it wasn’t the right consistency or fully mixed together. Darn impatience.
- Be careful and thorough when attaching the metal piece to your pendant and make sure the clasp is secure. I lost my pendant a few times the first day I wore it because I didn’t secure it well enough. At first I was mad that the clasp wasn’t sturdy but it was user error.
- Make sure you have a chain, charm bracelet, or something on which to wear your pendant. If you don’t, you’ll want to order one from them. These are on sale too!
Why I Love Breast Milk Jewelry
I liked the idea of a DIY breast milk pendant when I bought my kit, but I am genuinely surprised by just how much I love it. Its a subtle way to express my love for my baby and celebrate all that we’ve been through in this, his first year of life.
I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it and when I tell people that it’s made of breast milk, they light up with curiosity. Where I thought people would backtrack a bit, they ask more about it and where I got the kit to make it.
