A Portable Den for your Baby Bear

Our family spends a fair amount of time outside. When we became pregnant, we knew that we wanted to continue being outside when the baby came. To do that we needed a safe place to lay him down when we weren’t carrying him. Our registry was made on Amazon. So I started researching portable baby solutions and found the Brica Fold N’Go Travel Bassinet from Munchkin.

At first, we didn’t know exactly what we were looking for. Isn’t that the greater theme of having your first baby? You don’t know what you don’t know. After a short search though, the Travel Bassinet was the answer. More specifically it looked like the Brica Fold N/Go was the right option for us.

Why We Chose the Brica for Our Baby Bear

Functionality

The first reason why we chose this Fold N’Go Bassinet was that the functionality met our needs. It was a comfortable Bassinet. The mesh sides provided safety while keeping Baby Bear col and comfortable. It was sturdy but also designed for travel so it was collapsable. It was easy to use, and when it was collapsed it barely took up any space. We could throw it in the truck for trips, or pop it open in the backyard, wherever we needed a safe and comfortable place for him, we could easily use this product.

Reliable Brand

The second reason we went with the Travel Bassinet from Munchkin was that it was a reliable brands, and a low price point. This was an item that we were putting on our baby registry. We already had our larger items like furniture, so we tried to keep the registry stocked with affordable items that people could either purchase as an individual gift, or bundle with a few other items depending on what they wanted to do for our shower.

The big thing with selecting an affordable item from Amazon is making sure that the brand is dependable. I made sure to track what everyone gave us in Google Sheets so that I could not only write thank you cards, but send pictures of Baby Bear using the gifts they sent. We’ve found loads of reasons to love this product and have sent many photos! Munchkin is a big brand in the baby and kid product space, this made me feel confident about making this addition to our registry. There are other bassinets and travel options but they have a higher price tag. I knew this was something that we would be putting on the deck, in the grass, potentially on the dirt- I needed to be able to feel comfortable using it in all of these settings so the price and reliability were very important to me.

Not only did the Brica Fold N’Go Travel Bassinet hold up well, I’ve put it away in case we add a second baby bear in the future. We also love that we can bust it out when friends with babies come to visit us.

Little Did I Know How Meaningful This Travel Bassinet Would Become for Me as a Pandemic Mom.

I’m about to get sappy here. Baby Bear was born right before the shut down as the pandemic was beginning to rage. He was also born about a month early. Papa Bear is an ICU Nurse. He planned a short maternity leave around the baby’s due date. So he finished out the month and then took his paternity leave. It was so nice to have our family together but I didn’t know that it was going to get harder.

With the pandemic hitting our local area harder that we thought, Papa Bear cut his paternity leave short and joined his team treating Covid patients. Not knowing how this would affect our new baby, he quarantined way from us until we knew more about the virus. Being on my own with a newborn, going back to work after two weeks (I work from home and this was my choice), and knowing that Papa Bear was working long hard shifts away from us was tough physically and mentally.

I have a new found empathy and appreciation for what military families and single parents go through.

A Home Away From Home with The Brica Fold N’Go Travel Bassinet

Not being able to have family or friends around to help, this travel bassinet became so incredibly handy. I used it inside to keep Baby Bear safe on the couch until our dog learned not to step on him. I used it so that I could get work done, do postnatal yoga, so that we could enjoy the sunshine outside – everything that I really needed to do, the Brica Bassinet made possible.

My parents live an hour away in the mountains here in PA. I spent a lot of time with them at their cabin for relief, support, and some semblance of socialization. This bassinet takes up no room, so every time I packed up the Tacoma to go to the mountains, you be that Brica was in there.

Papa Bear came home after a month (after checking with our pediatrician, a pediatric ICU doc, and an epidemiologist). And we continued to use the Brica Fold N’Go Bassinet inside and outside, day and evening, for naps, playtime, and just about everything in between.
